* -* Random Thoughts *-*

Whao! It's almost coming to one month since I last blogged.

Yes, anniversary was fun and memorable!

So much things had happened these few months...
The calamities in 2 countries, with thousand upon thousands lives lost and many more.

End times is coming? Think about it.

Had lunch with bro. B. Better friendship & understanding were forged.
Certain issues just have to let go & move on.
Yes, it's an "open window" for me to observe some positive changes from the fold.
Yup, am watching.

Then it was father's day... Joash did something that warmed my heart. Check his blog www.tomsum.blogspot.com.

Music Band? Yes, lately been thinking about setting up a music band.

This band will consist of friends and musos coming from various denominations just doing music & songs.
Maybe would just start out with some friends and get each other connected to HIM again.

I am not influence by the Superband thingy tho I've lots to comment about some certain groups. Well, the judges' comments were enough to break those wannabes' egos n pride. So 3 cheers to those who were booted out. You are courageous. Haha...

Back to my band stuff... I am still in the process of recruiting members via electric invitation...and I've a few names that you may want to choose from or maybe vote.
#1 Simple Music
#2 Simply Music
#3 Just Music
#4 Justi-fried Music
#5 Musos Music

Tag me ok?

Will also put some composed songs written by myself & with friends to come under this new thingy as copyright.

Work wise... Being rather busy with work. Fridays would ends work around 6plus in the evening...
May consider asking my company to increase my salary.

Yes, my bd is coming! Where to celebrate? U decide. Punk? Hmm... spare me pls.. Haha...

Oh yes, before I forgot my friend is attached with "early morning"! Good for you!
This time is gonna be better than the previous. Cos "early morning" refreshes you & is more compatible to you.
Keep it slow & steady. You have long way to go. Don't neglect your friends too. Include them in your relationship.

Thanks for reading. Told you it's gonna be random.

See you soon! Blessings

He Will Come & Save You

So much things had happened for the last few weeks.
My heart goes to those whose lives were taken away by the cyclone & earthquakes.
To my dear friend whose dad have gone home to be with the Lord. My prayer is with you. Take care.

May you be bless by watching this video. May your faith be lifted up.

Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Some Updates...(Reflections, observations & rant as well)

Recently my friend had hurt her ribs. Doc wasn't sure of what had actually happened.
But the thought of how I heard from others were rather surprising.
Thank goodness I bothered to check from my dear friend personally.
Guess what? She was not hospitalised but was given some mc to rest at home to nest the hurting ribs.
Will be praying for her. Rest well my friend, don't over exert yourself. Take a break if you need to. Health is more important. Will talk to you soon.

Keep your spirit high bro! Be positive. Nothings is impossible to our Creator who created the entire solar system. Also remember to take care of yourself as well. I am praying for your dad. Keep me updated.

So if you wants to find out certain decisions made over "certain things" in my life, come and ask me... been hearing too much hearsay about it already.
Speculate no more, let gossip ceased. Come, open your golden jaw and ask me.
Come hear from me personally.

Came across this quote while driving along Changi road that leads to Changi point.
This big quote located near a restricted area says:
"True leader will says 'Do as i do, not do as i say'."

IT'S SO TRUE! To me, it's also bibically. Ponder about it.

It's a pity to find lesser leaders who will "do" more than "say" nowadays.
I've seen it with my own eyes. It's a pity. Sigh...

See...! I've updated but i believe some won't like my post.
Till then, hope to share more of my thoughts, observations and at times my rant with us in this place.
Oh yes... coud you kindly refrain from "encouraging" people from by-passing this blog... If you've nothing good to comment, just zipped it. It reflects very badly on you and your intention on me...
Go read Phil 4:8
Well, take care and blessings.

Thank you for the sms that you sent while i was working 3 weeks back. Your sincere concerns warm my heart & spirit.
You are surely a fatherly figure in your quiet moments and had shown me that you are different from the fold.
Thank you once again.

Role of A Translator

Watched City Harvest Church last week's service before I state down what I look for in a translator.

Then you know where i am coming from when you will see how professional this translator is. I grade 8/10 for the translator.

These are what i am looking for in a translator...

Translator must be...

#1: Alert;
#2: Focus;
#3: Effective;
#4: Able to process fast- not too much lagged time (Only old computer had this problem);
#5: Have a good command in (I am not saying well verse)English & Mandarin;
#6: Have the desire to learn & harness one's skill;
#7: Have a good sense of dressing (not a fashion disaster no dull dress code);
#8: Have a sense of humour;
#9: Able to engage people while translating;
#10: SMILE- Seen before too many translators with grummpy face or drank too much lemonade in the morning).

You may have your own reservation on my criteria but it's fine.
We can agree to disagreed on this.
I've learnt that in everything that I do, I must excel in what I do and give my very best (not just best) to our Creator so that He will be glorified. Don't you agree?

I still like City Harvest Church translator. Good job!

Cheers, Blessings!

God Of My Forever

Hi all,
Just love this song so so much.

The 1st sentence just brought back so much memories of me while i was younger.

How I served alongside with my peers during my youth days.

But now as I look back, most of them had left me for other organisation.

I am still serving where I am- in an organisation up north.

So much things had happened in my organisation these few months.

Can't help but to say how they derived their conclusions blows my mind away of which does not make any sense.

Somehow it seems to me that they are trying to get a "goat" for all things that happened- Sad.

Well, i guess you don't need any solid conclusion when you decided to get a "goat".

Anyway, I shall stop here.

Enjoy the song. It speak alot of how i am feeling this season.

My greatest honour will always be to serve my Lord & King! Amen & Hallelujah!

Blessings!

Being Spiritual Or Being Godly

Had a chat with my friend who works in a local bank...

We touched on many issues but what stays was this issue about "being spiritual & be godly"

There is a vast different in these two.

Being spiritual only bears the form or I called it outward appearance.

But being godly is a lifestyle flowing out from a daily communion with Creator God.

Friends, i urge you to choose to live a godly life that fear God.
Say no to spiritual lifestyle because it unreal.

Blessings to you!

** This Song- Ai Xiao De Yan Jing **

This song ministered to my wife & I alot.

Never did we know that our Creator was using this song to speak to us.
We like the chorus part.
离开你我才发现自己 那爱笑的眼睛
流过泪 像躲不过的暴风雨 淋湿的昨天删去
And it bless our heart & soul.

So listen & read the lyrics below.

May my Creator uses this song to bless you soul too!

Blessings!

***My Reflection ***

Hi dear blog reader,

Had a very tough, frustrated, disheartened last week after receiving 3 emails from my team members wanting to step down & out from their service in this organisation...

Cried to my Creator in my heart like don't know how many umpteen times...

我是否得看的开或得看得非常开呢?

Why do people with such right attitude, good intention, great potiential want to throw their towels?

And why do members belonging to the other bank are able to stay so long?

Why? Why? Why?

Ps 73 spoke so clear to me.
他们会尝到后果的。You reap what you sow. And this is so true.

This one verse that encourage me the most Ps 73:26
26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever. (Yes & Amen!)

May I encourage you with this verse as well.
Put your hope, your trust in God for He is your strength & your portion forever!

Blessings to you!

What if & If Only

Recently, been thinking of many things.

The meeting with my "CEO" n "directors" were technical good.
It's good to hear from them and see certain things from their perspective tho I still don't agree to some degree. But I think I can still live with it for meantime.

Today this "What if & If only" kept ringing in my mind (ring ring...can I speak to Mr. What If and Ms If Only?... nope. Not going to the northpole now.)

"What if" gives the idea that things or options were yet to be executed. Just like a group of planners were just looking at various methods or solutions to solve an issue, problem or situation.

"If only" talks about an issue, matter or subject been solved or dissolved but method of approach could have been better or can be done better that can generate better results or growth.

In many situations, we are caught in these 2 school of "what if & If only".

When certain issues or matters that had been made or tread on, we would normally or very likely look at the situation or the method used and says: "If only this could be done in this manner..." Neither do we ever ponder the "what if" nor what is the best approach for this issue.

In certain matter, the best way for me to solve issues or matters is using "what if" but sometimes it's easier said than done.

Putting on "what if" thinking cap helps us to look at things in a clearer perspective and be more objective. But sad to say that most of us or gernerally people are rather subjective.

"CEO" and "directors" that I know that are objective are rather few. I can only count them with one palm.
Almost all the "CEO" & "directors" that I know are very subjective. They would normally side the "more favorable" one. I called such act "favouritsm"

Such people lean to the "more favourable" one due to various reasons. (You may be able to think more as this is not exhaustive)

#1 Good fellowship
Good fellowship normally hovers around good sumptious food. If not it will not called good fellowship.
So some agreed with them because of great food.

*In the marketplace or secular world, contracts or business opportunites are secure over food and entertainment.
* Hopefully such things don't happen in my organisation.

#2 Senior position
I would gain more if I were to favoure you more cos you can protect me or ensure my position. This person or that person stays long enough in an organisation... so she or he will know more things. So can trust her or him for her/his word.

Hopefully such things don't happen in my organisation.

#3 Experience in life or age
(Chinese saying: I eat more salt more than you eat rice! Sounds familiar)
I am old or more senior than you thus WHAT I SAYS is right!
Such attitude does not garner any respect at all.
One must never says: "I am older than you thus you must listen, you must respect and don't rebutt me. Don't you be rude!" But the only impression that you give to others is that you are proud, snobbish and pompous (same meaning lar)

Hopefully such things don't happen in my organisation.

Any person who tends to incline himself or herself to these reason are rather or maybe unwise, they judged and sided the "favoured ones" too quickly without thinking, deciphering and make no effort to clarifies further with various party.
Such are deems as "light ears" or listens & agreed whatever one says.

When we fails to look at issue as it really is and starts to apply these 3 points... you have loss it totally & completely. You lose the rights to build other bridges.

In this fallen world, we need to exercise the wisdom of Christ and stay objective.
We need to put on the full armour of God and at the same time pray for discernment when we speak, talk or discuss with people regarding various matters.

I do make mistakes at times but it can be avoid when we think and decipher them objectively.

Lately, my "CEO" & "directors" always tell us manager- go to the source. go to the source for clarification.

If you fail to walk your talk (go to the source for clarification) then you loss the opportunity to build bridges and restore lives.

I've a good director. He walk his talk. He's a VP in a banking industry. He has been helping me to put certain things into perspective and at the same time not overbearing. He respect my decisions made knowing that some are needful.

So my dear reader, do you exercise "What if or If Only"?

For you to ponder.

Blessings

2008!

Blessed 2008 to you!

Recently was reading some online news on a local website about a man served as a Health Minister in a neighbouring country was flimed "romancing" with his counterparts in a hotel.

You might be interest to read the full article by clicking below.

http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/Asia/STIStory_192410.html.

This article brought some parallel truths to this person called Achan.

You can read about what he did in the bible. Joshua 6-7

Despite a command given by Joshua to keep away from things that were sacred to the Lord (Joshua 6:18-19). Achan kept & hid some in his tent.

His act not only cause him his life, his family members, young & old, his livestocks(Joshua 7:24). He brought shame to the entire nation-lost in battle.

Achan publicly admited his wrong doings(Joshua 7:20-21).

I knew that Achan had disobeyed God by sinning against him. But personally, I do admire his courage to admit his sin publicly .

Yes, there will always be consequences for the wrong done and sinned committed.
It is necessary for one to openly admits one's wrong doing (It depends on how wide the ripples had gone).
For Achan, his act had gone throughout the entire nation. Same for that health ministry-big consequences

If one tries to hide them in a carpet... very likely... (like what most people says:"you sin will caught up with you one of these day") you will live a life of worrying or covering or in fear....
You will worry that someone will eventually "discover" it. Don't you think so?

In my organisation, my "directors" expects all their "managers" to have the following 4 Responsibilities. (Not sure it still applies. Anyway for you to read)

Personal purity – To bring to the church a submitted, Spirit-filled self.
A heart that is surrendered to God is a powerful tool in God’s hand. Personal purity is not for self-indulgence; it is the greatest and most powerful gift we can bring to each other.

Relational integrity – To pursue honorable and loving relationships: in the family; among friends, coworkers and neighbors; and in the Body of Christ.

Organizational loyalty – To contribute to the church time, talents and treasures, and to be responsive to the leadership God has established.

Interpersonal maturity – To seek to serve more than to be served. The greatest in the Kingdom of God, as Jesus had said is the one who has served all. The community of faith functions best when we esteem others better than ourselves and choose to serve more than to be served.

Above all, I think they are looking for every "managers" to have integrity.

As a leader, if I've did something wrong, I must humble myself to seek forgiveness (to apologize).
I won't cover up my wrong doings by JUSTIFYING my deeds and says:" Although I did not do anything wrong BUT I still say sorry". (Why say sorry when you think you are right. Right?)

For my readers to ponder this...

Leader that stands, stands corrected and chastise.
Leadership that stands corrected will stand tall.

Have a great 2008 ahead!

Blessings to you.

Let's Move On-Let's see the Big Picture

Someone asked me: " Cher, Update your blog leh? Veri long never update liao?"

Yes, yes... here i am again- Updating my blog.

It's not that I am lazy but i blog only when things happens that required some serious reflection for myself & for my reader.

Let's move on....
Recently, my friend lost everything (in his context) in one sitting.
How much can a young man's heart bear such pain and measure?
He has so many people to meet?
Can he go through all these?
Though I may not totally agree with the measures taken towards him.
There's always consequences
But we reap what we sow.
Sad, heart brokened, despaired, helpless... but i pray that you will rise up above all these situation like Job- Mature, stronger in the Lord

Job, in our today's context, a God-fearing successful businessman, a multi-millionaire lost everything in 1 day, his business, his family and worse inherited illness. (You can read his lifestory in the Bible Job)
But he CHOOSE to give thanks to God.
He choose to LOOK to God for Strength.

Yes, he does have some good buddies. But some of them did not give him good advices- they asked him to curse God and die!
But Job chose the former- he chose to Thank God and LOOK to God for Strength.

My friend, I know and am glad that you do have some good buddies, some 7 years of close friends and your 2nd family members.
You've heard and will hear of some not so nice advices that wrestled against your good nature.
But I know that you will do what is good and right and pleasing to God.
Never let emotions lead you But allow the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Allow His staff and rod to lead you (Ps 23)
Draw close to Him and He will draw close to you.
Seek Him and He will be found by you.

Read Romans 8:28. See the Big Picture. Let's move on.

Our prayer and support are with you. Press on brother! The best has yet to be!

To my friend's buddies- It's time for you to be your brother's keeper.
What does a brother's keeper do?....
Think about it. You can discuss it on my tag.

Blessings to you!

Some Sharing

Recently, I've so much things to share. Some really piss and makes me boils! Well just to sum up these frustrations by using my good friend's quote:
I am not going to play your "GAME". Period.

Let me share this exciting one instead.
My friends came over my house.

I shared with them this topic "WORSHIP".
I asked them: "What is worship to you?"

At the end, we came out with this song

Title: "I WORSHIP"

I will give my all to you
Everyday of my life, a pleasing sacrifice
All I am, I give unto You
Every beat of my heart, I long to worship You

Pre-chorus
I worship You
I worship You
With all I am
With all I am

Chorus:
I will give you all the praises, I will sing
Holy and worthy are You
I bow my knees, declare You are King
Holy and worthy are
(Repeat chorus)
I worship

Thanks friends, you guys rocks! Never thought that just one question will snowballed into a song. But I will "greenhouse" it first and let it grow because good song can wait. No need to rush.

Be blessed.

Be Courageous, Stay Committed in the Course

My Mentee is going for his National Service on this Friday 26th 07.

What would I want to encourage him on?
Well, Daryl you had heard my advices,my pre-amps of your involvement in the organisation, changing your perspective about NS and bringing your ministry into the army!

Daryl, getting yourself baptise in the culture of army whereby dialets with added "spiced words" are mainly converse among soldiers is very common.
Training is tough depends on individual.

But I want to encourage you with these bible verses Rm 12:1, Josshua 1:8, Phil 3:9-11 and Rm 8:28

These are some verses that brought me through my army days.

Daryl, always keep that innerman strong. Set the standards. Be a Daniel. Be courageous, stay committed in the course.

Praying for you always.

To my fellow Camp mate=team mate

Hi all,
Just came back from my reservist about 1 week ago...
Was very busy with my work.

I was thinking of something that I can post on my blog and I believe the best is to blog about this camp mate of mine-Marc Lim.

Marc came to my unit for his 1st ICT when we were in our 6th ICT.
During his active unit, he was in-charge of the armskote.
So during my 6th ICT, my CSM got Marc to help me in my office(armskote).

Most who came over to assist me in my office knew nuts about and the seriousness coupled with the heavy responsibilties of this appointment. Many would complain and complain...
Once, I had a assistant who tried to blackmail me with a written note place on my table and tried to sabotage me by put unauthorized "items" in my office in the name of unfairness.
Well, this shown me one thing about people who are not trained or geared up for such appointment would normally tries to play games with you.

But not for Marc, I found out that he was rather well-versed with the requirement of such appointment although it was his 1st ICT after years of ORDing.

Been working hand in hand with him for 4 years. It was the common understanding we had and also the Standing Order requirement of an armskoteman that caused us to function very smoothly.
Marc is still trying to learn as much as he can from me before I complete my 10 years cycle(M.R.).

Althoug we knew our job, our scope & boundary very well, the Dos & the DON'Ts. We realized that our fellow commrades would at times tries to "smoke" us or tries to be funny but it we did not allow anyone, not even our officers to pull rank with us because we knew the heavy resposibilties that my OC had given to us.

Though ranked the 2nd lowest in the army hierachy, the trust that I have from my OC, DY and other key appointment holders in the BNHQ were tremendous.
For me, it was an honour to serve my fellow comrades but also to maintain the Standing Order that is require of me (Marc as well).

I've also came across one comrade telling me to just receive his weapon without checking it- because he is a 2nd sergeant- he pulled rank.
Immediately I told him to strip his weapon and I checked every parts for cleanliness. I've remembered telling him :"My OC allows me to check his weapon when sending in... Please don't pull rank? Please keep your rank in your pocket. I've a duty to fulfill"
I know I may sound very proud... but come on if every joker come and tell me what I should do...that I should allow them to send in theirs without me checking because their rank higher than me, then I would have allowed myself to be step all over and my all years of specialised training flush into the water cistern (WC).

So my BNHQ comrades knew that when comes to work, I am seriously serious.
I've grown, gained trust and became firm while serving in this appointment in my ICT.
And I also want to thank Marc (if you happened to read this blog), you did better each time in ICT. You must learn not to let fellow comrades steps you all over.

It works the same for me in my work or serving in my organisation. Friends, sliblings or fellow-organisation worker knew my style.
I've one applicant who used to tell me where and what organisation he used to help in, expecting that I would take him in because of his "credentials". I rejected his application immediately.

It works the same for any organisation or workplace. When you know your job scope, you can grow.
But when you can't even handle your scope and starts to meddle in others' affair...you can't grow but might end like a thorn on someone's rear (PITA).

So people let's start learning what's your scope in your organisation, so that you can grow & glow within that safety net. Net is there not to trap you but to provide a safe catch for you when you tries to jump over. Watch those steps... be careful not to tread on unfamiliar ground because you might step on mines and not only hurt yourself but others as well.

*To my one and only friend who held the same appointment as me now...(you know who you are lar) I pray that you will learn to embrace this responsiblity with a new passion and a new heart. A renewed perspective about such role is easy to bear when you began to sees it in a different light and positive angle. I know you can and you will. Learn to take such heavy responsility with stride. I know you will do well and God will be glorify in your service when you starts complaining less and thanking God more. Begin to expect things and situation to change for the better*

So think, ponder through... If there is some truth in it... starts learning. Don't be stuck in the mud.

Will blog soon!
